It was a normal Sunday for me just like other Sunday, no drama, no much surprise except that I went to a programme outside in UiTM Shah Alam with my fellow UKM batchmate buddies. Then we got back UKM once we finished programme on the evening and to my surprise, there’s something strange going on that could change the course of politics & government forever in Malaysia. That night around 6:30 pm, I reached my uni campus then i checked any updates on the news account page in instagram and what not. Suddenly as I scroll and swipe over I followed online on Instagram and Youtube, I am like … wait. What ?! Why … and all the vague turn of events that surround the nation’s poltical arena have leave me and most malaysians in ambiguity.. I start to study and muster some systematic collection of information thus I summary all the above political turmoil narrative that surrounds our nation below .and maybe you can prepare a box of salted caramel popcorns , a pint of ice-cream and some coke perhaps while you dive in some political melancholic drama , u-turn , UNO reversed cards , mind blown game and lets see whose fucked up at the end .
Sunday – 23.02.2020
· The surprising kickstart are five different meetings held by PPBM, UMNO and Warisan amid backdoor government speculation throughout the day.
· It ends with a so called “dinner meeting” attended by PKR Deputy President, Azmin Ali, PKR Vice President, Zuraida Kamaruddin, BERSATU President, Tan Sri Muhyidin Yassin and notable leaders of Muafakat Nasional coalition which are UMNO – PAS member of parliaments ( MPs ) at Sheraton Hotel in PJ . It is believe to be the bold move of “Langkah Sheraton”where negotiation and plan to create a backdoor government is initiated that night .
· PKR, DAP and PAN were not acknowledged of the said meeting held.
· Media representatives were left clueless and disappointed by the said politicians who choosed not to clarify about the mysterious meeting. Instead, they were just smiling.
· Anwar Ibrahim at his matrimonial home said that there had been a mjor betrayal by some of the PH leaders by trying to form a new coalition with Muafakat Nasional bloc parties.
Monday – 24.02.2020
· PH Government officially collapsed after BERSATU decided to segregate from PH bloc following the political upheavals.
· PKR, DAP and AMANAH held emergency meetings at their headquarters following the update.
· Tun M activate the resignation infinity stone and thus resigned as Prime Minister and also BERSATU party’s Chairman. With this, PH Cabinet ministers dissolved.
· BERSATU rejected Tun’s resignation letter.
· PH main leaders, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah , Lim Guan Eng and Mat Sabu met Tun M at his home in Seri Kembangan .
· After few hours of handing the resignation later, Tun M went to Istana Negara to have an audience with the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong and further discuss about the nation’s political direction.
· Azmin Ali and his loyal ally, Zuraida Kamarudin were sacked from PKR following a major betrayal taken place last night (Sunday) which was believed to be conspired by him. This was followed by the resignation of 9 other PKR MPs who support him. Their stance now was to be the independent bloc on the Dewan Rakyat.
· BN – PAS – 10 independent bloc members (ex-PKR) or then now known Perikatan Nasional had accumulated and sent a collection of SD (statutory declaration) to the YDPA pledging support to Tun M as the candidate Prime Minister in a possible unity government. However, BN – PAS only agreed to the resolution if and only if DAP is not involved in the forming of the new government.
· Yang Di-Pertuan Agong (YdPA) appointed Tun M as an interim Prime Minister until the new 8thPrime Minister is determined. This is the first time in the history of Malaysia such caretaker prime minister post is introduced.
Tuesday – 25. 02.2020
· Tun M back to work as the Interim Prime Minister at Putrajaya but this time he was totally alone after he snapped the resignation infinity stone. It seems cool because he rules alone all the government machineries for this temporary time.
· 90 members of the parliaments which mainly from opposition bloc are interviewed by the YDPA at the Istana Negara on their 8th PM choice candidate and to determine who holds the majority support from the MPs. The remaining 131 MPs were called tomorrow.
· BN, PAS and PBRS call for General Election held to determine new government.
Wednesday – 26.02.2020
· The remaining 131 MPs (mostly PH party components) were having audience with the YDPA to determine their support towards a new prime minister candidate at the Istana Negara.
· Tun M in a little emotional special press conference opened up about matters triggering his resignation as the PM and apologised to fellow Malaysians because of the political turmoil which brings downs the PH government. Besides Tun also proposed a unity government model which possibly become the solution to end the nation political uncertainty.
· Some of the main highights of his speech are:
- Tun M states that he resigned because he believed he no longer hold the majority support of the Dewan Rakyat members after the collapse of PH Government due to betrayal of some PH leaders.
- He also stress out that to him, ‘power and position’ is NOT “be all and end all” but there are ‘ A Means to An End ’ which are to serve the peoples and nation building through a stable government .
- Tun remains strong with his principle to not hold a joint-venture cooperation with UMNO in forming a new federal government.
- However, he would ready to spread his wings open heartedly to accept any then ex-UMNO members whom wish to join forming a unity government but not to the UMNO members who are still a loyal member to the party.
· Perikatan Nasional (BN – PAS) revoked the support to Tun M as the 8th Prime Minister candidate pledged through statutory declaration (SD) which already been submitted to the YDPA previously. This is because the SD is applicable only if the new federal government alliance do not involve DAP.
· PH opposes “backdoor government”. The three parties in the PH coalition nominated Anwar as the Prime Minister’s candidate , setting a possibly encounter showdown between the old political rivals .
Thursday – 27.02.2019
· Later that evening, Tun in a surprise press conference stated that a special seating will be held in the parliament to hold a special voting session among the MPs to determine who will be the nex 8th Prime Minister. If this fail then there will be a snap election.
· Istana Negara has yet to issue any statement.
· The Anwar-led group (PH) criticized Tun’s decision that evening as if trying to surpass and challenge the power and rights of the YdPA.
Friday – 28.02.2020
· The Conference of Malay Rulers (Majlis Raja – Raja Melayu) held a special meeting regarding the nation future direction amidst the political crisis at the Istana Negara in the morning.
· The Dewan Rakyat speaker, Dato’ Sri Ariff rejected Tun M’s request to hold a special parliamentary seating on the ground that his letter did not comply with the formal rules of Parliament Standing Orders.
· The YDPA through the official statement by Istana Negara had affirmed that no confidence on any MPs whom enjoy a majority support to form a new government has been found yet.
· This indicates that the floor is still open for any political leaders who can muster majority support to be the Prime Minister.
· BERSATU nominated Muhyidin as the premier’s candidate. PAS and UMNO vowed to support him.
Saturday – 29.02.2020
· Tun M will stand for the premiership on behalf of the former ruling coalition as PH turned in support to him back as the prime ministerial ‘s candidate. Tun was positive as he claimed that he had garnered majority support of around 114 MPs from PH bloc and Warisan.
· All party leaders, independent MPs met the King to submit their PM candidate.
· Istana Negara had declared that Tan Sri Muhyidin was appointed by the YdPA as the 8thPrime Minister and the sworn in ceremony will take place tomorrow on Sunday morning.
· Tun M and PH claimed that they had acquired a majority support more than the alleged ones received by Muhyidin to be the next PM. Tun planned to write a letter to inform the YdPA of the support he has.
Sunday – 1.03.2020
· Around 10:30 am, Tan Sri Muhyidin Yassin was officially sworn in as the eight Prime Minister of Malaysia. This officially ends the most dramatic political crisis in Malaysia (probably for the temporary time being)
· At the al – Bukhary Foundation, Tun M said infornt of the media press that the YdPA would no longer see him. The only way possible at the moment now was to challenge Muhyidin’s support at the upcoming parliamentary seating.
· Tun M accused Muhyidin of betraying and plotting against him to come into power as the premiership. He also questioned the PM’s impartiality and principle stance on behalf of the new government future action’s against the former ruling party politicians graft cases.
